Our history from the beginning…

Starting healthcare training in Miskolc was necessary due to the shortage of professionals in the region.   

 

  • 1987-1995: health visitors and physiotherapists were trained in Miskolc at an institute affiliated to Haynal Imre University of Healthcare.

 

  • 1 September 1998–31 August 2001: the training of health visitors was relaunched as the Miskolc branch of the College of Healthcare Studies at the University of Debrecen,

 

  • From September 2001, based on Decree OM8.019/1/2001, students training to become health visitors at the Miskolc branch of the College of at the University of Debrecen became students of the University of Miskolc.

 

  • From 2001 training started at the Healthcare Institute of the University of Miskolc.

 

  • On 1 September 2002 the Hungarian Minister of Education granted Decree 19721/2002.–1 to start a bachelor-level programme in Health Visiting at the University of Miskolc.

 

  • On 1 January 2003 the Hungarian Minister of Education granted Decree 18416-6/2003 to start a bachelor-level programme in Physico-therapy at the University of Miskolc.

 

  • On 1 January 2004 the Hungarian Minister of Education granted Decree 1644-5/2003 to start a bachelor-level programme in Medical Diagnostic Analysis at the University of Miskolc.

 

  • Based on Government Order 251/2005 (XI.23) the Faculty of Healthcare at the University of Miskolc came into existence.

 

  • In the academic year of 2006/2007 a bachelor-level programme began in Nursing and Patient Care with a specialisation in Physico-therapy.

  • In the 2006-07 academic year a bachelor-level programme began in Healthcare and Disease Prevention with a specialisation in Health Visiting.

  • In the 2006-07 academic year a bachelor-level programme began in Medical Laboratorial Diagnostic Imaging Analysis with a specialisation in Medical Diagnostic Analysis.

  • In 2008 the County and Teaching Hospital of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén became the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Healthcare.

 

  • In 2008 the Physical Education and Sports Centre of Miskolc University was integrated into the Faculty of Healthcare as the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Sports.

  • In the 2008-09 academic year a bachelor-level programme began in Healthcare Management with a specialisation in Health Tourism Management

  • From 1 January 2009 the Faculty’s name became the Faculty of Healthcare, University of Miskolc.

  • In the 2009-10 academic year a post-graduate specialist training programme was established in Professional Physico-therapy for Paediatric Rehabilitation.

  • In the 2009-10 academic year a specialist training programme was established in Health Visitor for Youth Health Protection.

  • In the 2009-10 academic year a specialist training programme was established in Clinical Research Assistance (CRA).

  • In 2009 the university’s Employee Health Service was integrated into the Faculty of Healthcare under the name of the Healthcare Professional Methodology Centre.

  • In 2010 the Nanotoxicology Research Laboratory was opened at the Faculty of Healthcare in cooperation with the Bay Zoltán Foundation for Applied Research.
