The aim and purpose of the course: Ecology is studying the relationships between living creatures and their natural environment. The class first introduces to the scope of ecology and biogeography with a focus on the distribution of plant and animal species. Students learn about the different ecosystems, terrestrial and aquatic biomes, as well as the relationship among different populations in the communities. In addition, students will learn about practical opportunities and methods for protecting nature and the environment.

  1. Nanotoxicology. Physico-chemical (size, shape, size distribution, chemical composition, etc.) characterization of nanomaterials (Key instruments: DLS nano-zeta sizer, HPLC-IT-TOF/MS)
  2. Liposome based nanodrug development (siRNA containing gene-silencer drug candidate, antioxidant liposomal product, etc.)
  3. Investigation the relationship of nanomaterials and the human system:
    1. Nanomaterial induced cell activation
    2. Effects of nanomaterials on the complement system activation
    3. Endothel – nanoparticles interaction (gene expression analysis)
